A good coach knows it’s not about him. It’s about his capacity to help us overcome our opponents. And what are those opponents? Often they live right inside ourselves! They are attitudes that set us up for failure. Negative thoughts. Discouragement. Inability to see ourselves as achieving goals. Over-indulgence in things we don’t really need. You might be eating too much, having a problem with alcohol, or unable to stop yelling at your kids. You can’t win unless you learn to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” -- 2 Corinthians 10:5 There is a higher power who can help – and we can tap into Him by living a life of prayer. A good coach can help you see who you are. Don’t settle for the good. I can live a life fully devoted to God, and my prayers can be so powerful they can change people’s lives for all eternity! I can move mountains! A good coach can show me how to let Christ be the guiding force in my life. I can learn to walk as Jesus walked. As Glenn Clark told us in his book, I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes, “There is only one prayer I pray regularly every morning of my life, and that is that I may abide in the Kingdom of Heaven every moment of the day, and inspire others to abide there also.” |
